Childhood memory is a funny thing. I remember as a child watching a programme and I think it was a european fairytale show where this boy had a magic goose and everyone who touched him or someone who was touched by him became magically 'linked' (HA!HA!) and there was this long line of people trailing after the boy. I think there was a princess who had never smiled or laughed as well and the sight of the procession made her giggle. I think? As I said childhood memory is a funny thing. I mean I remembered a freaky show from Germany called the 'Singing ringing tree' and I bought it on DVD out of curiosity and I can't believe how scary I found it as a child or how incredibly strange the show was. AND IT WAS A CHILDREN"S SHOW! I'm going for a lie down.

When I was young every bank holiday there would always be Disney Time, which was a clips show from disney always presented by a Blue Peter (UK Kids show) presenter. Any hoo at some point in nearly every programme a clip from fantasia would be shown and my favourite was always the ballet dancing sequence with the hippopotamus -I think that it was this that made me want to draw cartoon animals- So in my tribute to that sequence A HIPPO WITH SUCH POISE.

In commemoration of what is the most popular toy, probably in all human history, the STICK!! I remember as a child hiding the best sticks in a neighbours hedge as a sort of community resource. I know it's small boys playing war but that's what we did and I think that's what small boys want to do - despite the best efforts of educators like me -actually I turn a blind eye to the boys in my class making guns out of the construction toys. Although I do remember a teacher catching a bunch of small boys shooting each other with a set of guns and upon asking a boy what he'd made he replied as quick as anything 'A lawnmower'. I also know a teacher with two small boys who wouldn't let them have guns, gave them dolls to dress up and look after and all that. One morning she found them in the garden 'shooting' each other with triangles of toast. Of course I remember I was particularly good at 'dying' which was as much fun as the shooting!!
